We are currently closed for submissions. Please check back in the fall for more information, when we expect to re-open for submissions for publishing in 2024 and 2025.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Please send a correctly structured and informative query letter and a 1-2 page synopsis for your short story, novella, or novel. We have limited slots open for literary (thru our Chrysalis Collection imprint), mystery/thriller, and spec-fiction stories. (We will consider narrative memoirs.) We publish for the adult, new adult, and young adult markets. We do not publish nonfiction, poetry, children’s picture, or self-help books.
To submit your proposal, email attached files (Word, OpenOffice, .rtf, or .pdf) to mail@papillon-du-pere.com.
Once your proposal is received, we will contact you to acknowledge receipt. We may then contact you, usually within 2 weeks, to request sample chapters* (first 1500 words for short stories) and subsequently, usually within a further 4 weeks, with our evaluation and a possible request for the full manuscript.
* Please be aware that as a small indie press, we pay professional submission editor associates to evaluate your sample chapters. To help us cover our costs (and to encourage only serious submissions) we will ask for a one-off, non-returnable fee of US $30 to evaluate your sample chapters.
This is the ONLY time we will ask for a contribution before or after publishing your work. If we subsequently request the full manuscript and once accepted, there is no further investment from the author.
While as a small press we regret we can’t offer advances to authors, we offer a publishing contract in which we assume all upfront activities and associated expenses such as book formatting, print & digital covers, flap copy, sales page blurbs, and author bios, as well as ARC reviews and core promotional activities.
Thank you for considering us and for your patience and understanding.

Papillon du Père Publishing is a niche publishing label that works with authors of commercial and literary fiction, both established and new. P du P is mission-driven, aiming to bring to market quality work often overlooked by mainstream publishers.
We are a “hybrid” publisher offering both traditional publishing contracts and a wide range of services for authors to self-publish. Consider submitting your manuscript or check out our publishing services designed to help authors hone their craft and get published.
We work meaningfully with writers on their writing journey and are proud to have award-winning and exciting next-gen authors in our stable, such as Vincent Czyz, Bradley Harper, Derek McFadden, Tierney Moore, Carla Rehse, and Lilla Glass.
Ask us for any testimonials regarding how we might be able to help you on your writing and publishing journey: let our authors, clients, and associates tell you! We can quickly add you to our Facebook writers’ group, Authorial Points of View, where a number of authors, clients, and colleagues chat and support each other.
